Origin Lane · Our story

Coffee you can trace to the tree

Two brothers, zero brokers, a direct line to Colombian micro-lots.

We are César and Jeisson Calderón, third-generation coffee growers from the mountains of Huila, Colombia. Our grandfather planted the first rows on our family's land. Our family taught us to read a cherry by its color, a lot by its drying floor, a harvest by the way the fog sits on the ridge in the morning.

Jeisson still works the ground: visiting farms, walking the rows with growers, cupping and tasting every lot before it earns a name. César handles the rest: fluent English negotiation with U.S. roasters, contracts, logistics, and the on-the-ground support that keeps a shipment moving once it leaves the farm.

Between the two of us, we kept seeing the same thing: exceptional coffee from our neighbors' farms and our own, invisible to American roasters because of language barriers, broker opacity, and logistics complexity. Origin Lane is our answer — we connect U.S. specialty roasters directly with the Colombian micro-lot farms we know personally creating lasting relationships.

How I got here

1940s

The Calderón family plants its first coffee tree

Our grandparents planted the first rows of coffee on this land in Huila more than 80 years ago. Three generations later, their farm is still standing — and it's still in the family.

Building the bridge — César goes to work

César spent years working for Coocentral — the Cooperativa Central de Caficultores del Huila — along with other companies as product manger that sharpened both his English and his understanding of the international market. That experience gave him the fluency and perspective to bridge both worlds: understanding what specialty roasters want, and explaining it in Spanish to growers in Huila and beyond.

Learning the full cycle — From cherry to cup

Together we worked every stage of the process: cherry picking, wet-milling, drying, dry-milling. Jeisson took it furthest, learning to cup and taste every lot before it earns a name — the knowledge that lets us evaluate a lot honestly and advise roasters accurately.

Founded Origin Lane

I saw the same problem repeated endlessly: exceptional Colombian micro-lots trapped behind language barriers, broker markups, and opacity. Origin Lane exists to solve that — one direct relationship at a time.
